Early on Grandpa was much more eager to send cards and letters, so you will notice that there are several in a row here. There is an image of this postcard which reads as follows:
Dear Dolores:
Just a line to let you know I reached Michigan safely. I arrived here at 10:30. Not bad, huh! The trip back didn't seem long at all even though it was 165 miles. The cake surely came in very well. I managed to resist until I got to Bryan, then I made way with one piece. The other one came all the way home and part of it is still here. Already I have a request to send for the recipe.
