Dear Dolores:
I just arrived home a few minutes ago only to find your fine letter waiting here for me. Needless to say I was pleased to hear from you, and don't worry – I enjoyed every word of your letter. I'm only sorry I am not able to write a letter equally as interesting.
After having driven over 400 miles today I hesitate to even attempt to write, but it seems necessary to get this in the mail soon if you are to get it by Saturday. Since you will be working most of next Monday perhaps I had better plan to come Monday P.M. and then I could help you celebrate your birthday Tuesday. How would that be? O.K. I hope!!!! I will plan to leave here Monday noon and arrive in Dayton probably around 5:00 P.M. Incidentally, I am going to try to persuade the Mayfields to come along with me. I hope they can come. If plans work out as I expect them to I will be going to their house for dinner Friday evening. They asked me at Hastings if I would come down and before I move to Allegan. I think they are grand people. How nice it would be if you could also be there Friday night. I wish you could.
I neither have the time nor space to give the details of my trip west. Remind me to tell you about it next week. I did enjoy it very much even though the time was short. Unfortunately, I was there long enough to get a cold. I know how to sympathize with your sister.
By the way, Dolores, why don't you find out just when your other week of vacation comes? Perhaps you know already. The reason I suggest this is because I have been thinking of something that I believe would be fun – if it should work out. I will also tell you about that next week.
I don't make it a habit of writing such short letters, but circumstances demand it tonight. Be seeing you Monday!
Sincerely – Ted Rom. 15:13
