Dear Ted,
I think I have good news. I have to work on Labor Day (that's not good) but I have arranged to be off on Tuesday, the – time out to refill my pen and answer the telephone and I see the ink is different. Oh me, excuse it please. – To get back to the subject at hand – I have the 2nd off so if you can still arrange it, we'd be glad to have you come down. I work until only 3:30 P.M. On Labor Day but that means I have to be there at 7:00 A.M. & that's tough as far as I'm concerned.
I arrived in Flint about on time Saturday nite but my brother was 10 or 15 minutes late meeting me. My folks were not at the cottage Saturday nite. They stayed in Detroit. Our friends had other company & things were rather confused but everything finally straightened out to a certain extent. We didn't get home until 12:30 last nite so I didn't get too much sleep last nite. I think I'll go to bed early (?) tonite.
Do you remember that peculiar man with the little tiny basket who got on the bus at Hastings? His name is Theodore! No reflections, understand. I just thought you'd like to know.
My little sister caught a cold last weekend up in Hastings & is not rid of it yet. She coughs and coughs. Poor thing. She even missed a day of work because of it. These Michigan colds! On top of it all she has hay fever so I guess she's pretty miserable.
One of Gladys's younger sisters is over tonite. She is to be maid-of-honor in a wedding Saturday evening & since her dress is too long, my mother is elected to shorten it. Mother is quite a seamstress but doesn't do much anymore. She made all the outfits for the Mayfield's wedding and it was very pretty even if I was in it. Such conceit.
Needless to say, I was not anxious to get back to work and if I had known what they were going to do with me, I would have been less anxious even. I'm very unhappy about the situation. (Don't take me too seriously).
I suppose you're in Iowa or at least nearly there by now. I hope you have a pleasant trip.
The weather today has been much warmer than up at Hastings last week. It rained last nite but didn't cool off much.
Remind me to tell you about the “blackout” we had on the way home last nite.
I hope you are not bored with all this patter. I can talk much better than I can write. I should have warned you when you asked me to write.
Be careful and take care of yourself.
Sincerely,
Dolores
