Dear Ted,
I believe I wrote you a letter about this time last week except it was a little later in the afternoon. Really, Ted, I don't know who owes who as far as letters are concerned but I'll keep writing and you keep writing and as long as we're both happy I guess it doesn't make much difference if our letters do just about cross each other halfway to their destination.
Don't you think it's a little unsafe to hang out the window watching for anyone? You'd better be more careful. Why, Adyllis told me about a man who was not watching for a mailman but who was waving adieu so violently to some friends that he fell out of a 4th story window and killed himself! See what I mean? I'm sorry, it's not very nice to joke about something like that because that really happened. I did get amused at your seeming impatience though.
About the address in Detroit. They live at 2590 Lakewood. I believe the best way for you to get there is to take Vernor Highway. Vernor Highway is simple to find and you just go straight out. I might as well warn you that they live clear across town from where you'll no doubt come in and that it takes about 1 hr. to get there. Turn left on Lakewood off Vernor. The house is about 1 block (as blocks run in Detroit) from Vernor. It's a large red brick duplex and there's a fire plug in front. Incidentally, they live in the lower part of the duplex. Do you think you can find it? It's not really hard to find and as well as you get around in strange towns, I think it will be fairly simple. Two more weeks yet.
Some time ago Mary Evelyn and I gave a talk in Young People's Meeting about missionaries (qualifications and work). That was alright, but now they want us to repeat them at another church in the conference whose young people gave us a meeting not long ago and who of course expect us to repay them likewise. My specialty is not talking so now I have that to worry about all this week until next Sunday nite. Don't you feel sorry for me?
They finally secured a regular teacher for our Sunday School class and I believe she'll be fine, but to my surprise and amazement, they casually announced this morning in class that I was the assistant. I knew absolutely nothing about it. They didn't even ask me. I hope you don't think I'm complaining about all this but I don't believe I'm adequate. I surely wish I could do better than I do but maybe they think with practice I'll improve.
Oh, I almost forgot. I'm very sorry to inform you that my picture won't be ready as soon as I promised. When I went down on Thurs. I found them all torn up in the process of redecorating so I had to go back yesterday. They won't be ready much before I see you so I think I'll just bring it along instead of sending it. They didn't know when I made the appointment that the painters would get there just that day so there was nothing they could do about it.
Well, I think I'll take a little nap before I have to go to work. Yes, this is my Sunday to work and I'm very unhappy about it. But, people will telephone on Sunday so duty calls me.
Yours,
Dolores
I just discovered that I addressed the envelope upside down again. Will you forgive me? It was really unintentional.
